Estrone (E1)
Estrone (E1) is a female sex hormone and the weakest type of estrogen, it’s typically higher after a woman reaches menopause. It also supports female sexual development and function, having low or high estrone can cause symptoms such as fatigue, irregular bleeding, or mood swings. When women have too little estrogen hormones, including estrone, they can develop osteoporosis. Low estrogen levels can also cause the symptoms of menopause, including poor sex drive, fatigue, hot flashes, and depression. Women who are postmenopausal and are struggling with these symptoms, low estrone levels may be the cause.
If you are or someone you know is experiencing signs or symptoms of an Estrone imbalance, Contact Wellness IV Infusion Therapy today! One of our medical professionals can come to you in the privacy of your home, office or hotel room. They can provide a consultation, set up laboratory testing and formulate an Estrone Hormone Optimization Therapy treatment plan.
Estradiol (E2)
Estradiol (E2) has several functions in the female body. Its main function is to mature and then maintain a woman’s reproductive system. Estradiol is also responsible for the development of a woman’s secondary sexual characteristics such as the widening of the hips, breasts and a female associated pattern of fat distribution. During a woman’s menstrual cycle, increased estradiol levels are responsible for the maturation and release of the egg, and the thickening of the uterus lining to allow a fertilized egg to implant.
The hormone is made primarily in the ovaries, so levels decline more and more as women age and decrease significantly during menopause. Proper estradiol levels in men help with bone maintenance, brain function and nitric oxide production, While men require much lower levels than women, they still need this important hormone to function well. It’s not hard to see why routine testing and Estradiol Hormone Optimization Therapy can play an important role in overall health and wellness.
High Levels of Estradiol
Too much estradiol in women has been linked to acne, loss of sex drive, constipation, and depression. If a woman’s Estradiol levels are extremely high, they can increase the risk of breast cancer, uterine cancer, and cardiovascular disease. Women with high estradiol levels may experience menstrual problems and weight gain. Men with high estradiol levels can development some female characteristics and loss of muscle tone and sexual function. When the body does not have enough estradiol, bone growth and development are slowed, and adults can develop bone weakness called osteoporosis. Girls can experience a delayed onset of puberty from low estradiol levels. Mood swings have also been connected to lower estradiol levels.
If you or someone you know may be suffering from an Estradiol imbalance Contact Wellness IV Infusion Therapy today! Have a consultation with one of our medical professionals about Hormone Optimization Therapy and routine laboratory testing for Estradiol levels now!
Estriol (E3)
Estriol (E3) also called Oestriol is one of three estrogens naturally produced by women. Normally E3 levels in the body are very low, but during pregnancy, E3 production is increased by the placenta. Oestriol levels are highest just before birth and increase throughout pregnancy. Increased Estoril levels are a good indicator of the health of the unborn fetus, because the chemical from which E3 is made from in the placenta, comes from another chemical which is made first by the baby’s adrenal glands and after gets altered in the baby’s liver before finally being converted to Oestriol in the placenta.
Growth of the uterus is caused by Estoril and it also increases sensitivity to other pregnancy related hormones, causing a gradual preparation for the baby’s birth. A sudden surge in oestriol happens around three weeks before a pregnant woman goes into labor. If the Estoril surge comes early, this can be a sign of premature birth. In women that are not pregnant Estriol only exists in very low levels. Having too little unbound Estriol during pregnancy can indicate problems with the baby, such as problems with the placenta or Down’s syndrome. Later in pregnancy lower Estriol levels may indicate that labor will not come on its own, and will have to be induced. Estoril levels can be optimized by the use of routine lab testing and Hormone Optimization Therapy.
Other Sex Hormones
Dihydrotestosterone
Dihydrotestosterone is the hormone responsible for stimulating the development of male characteristics and is an androgen. It is made through the conversion of a more commonly known androgen, called testosterone. Around 10% of the testosterone produced by an male adult is converted to dihydrotestosterone everyday. This takes place in the prostate and testes (in males), and in a woman’s ovaries(in females), as well as the skin, liver, and other parts of the body. Dihydrotestosterone also plays an important role in things like: blood sugar control, memory & cognitive function, libido & sexual function, heart health, strength & muscle mass, anxiety and depression, bone growth and can help treat autoimmune diseases.
High Levels Of Dihydrotestosterone
Here at Wellness IV Infusion Therapy we believe through routine testing and utilizing Hormone Optimization Therapy. We can make sure your Dihydrotestosterone levels are not irregular. Having too much Dihydrotestosterone can lead to things like: Women with too much dihydrotestosterone may develop increased body, facial and pubic hair growth, stopping of menstrual periods, irregular sleep and increased acne. Abnormal changes may occur to a woman’s genitalia when too much dihydrotestosterone is present. Men with too much Dihydrotestosterone may develop male pattern baldness or a receding hairline which is called DHT Baldness. Other symptoms of high Dihydrotestosterone in men are increased body and facial hair, adult acne, increased sweating, aggression, sleep apnea, high red blood cell count and breast development.
Having irregular Dihydrotestosterone can have many different effects in men and women. Through routine testing and Hormone Optimization Therapy you can make sure your body has safe Dihydrotestosterone levels. Contact Wellness IV Infusion Therapy Today! Progesterone
Progesterone is the most important progestogen in the body, it is also an endogenous steroid and progestogen sex hormone. It is involved in the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and embryo development. The Progesterone hormone is released by a woman’s ovaries. Changing Progesterone levels can cause abnormal menstrual periods and menopausal symptoms in women. Progesterone is also needed for implantation of the fertilized egg in a woman’s uterus and is important for maintaining a healthy pregnancy.
Men undergoing Testosterone Hormone Optimization Therapy may also use Progesterone. Progesterone helps a man counteract the effects estrogen has on the male body. Not only is progesterone found in men, but males actually rely on the alleged “female hormone” to preserve their masculinity. Progesterone also has potential for preventing prostate cancer, while safely boosting levels of free testosterone in men.
It is easy to see why routine testing for progesterone levels and Hormone Optimization Therapy is important for both men and women. Contact Wellness IV Infusion Therapy today! To optimize your progesterone levels by having routine testing and a consultation with one of our medical professionals now!
DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone)
Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a hormone produced by the body’s adrenal glands. The body uses DHEA to make the male and female sex hormones called androgens and estrogens. Our DHEA levels are at their peak at around age 25, then DHEA levels steadily decline as we age. Making the need for routine testing and Hormone Optimization Therapy more and more important as we age. Restoring youthful DHEA levels can help prevent and improve the outcomes of many conditions.

Pregnenolone
Pregnenolone is the foundation to the body’s other naturally occurring hormones, but a lot of people aren’t familiar with this hormone by name. Your body converts pregnenolone into other important hormones, including progesterone, estrogen, testosterone, and DHEA. Pregnenolone plays a key role in hormonal balance as a key precursor to cortisol, progesterone, and DHEA, which can be later converted into estrogens and testosterone. It also helps to balance and maintain the body’s stress response system. Pregnenolone Hormone Optimization Therapy is particularly important for people who have deficient hormone levels found through laboratory testing. Here at Wellness IV Infusion Therapy we like to focus on routine testing and Hormone Optimization Therapy, rather than waiting for the hormone levels to be so low or nonexistent that Hormone Replacement Therapy is needed.
